This role is a day shift position, which will operate between 8am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Overtime may be required occasionally, this may involve working 12-hour shifts on a short-term basis, in these cases you will be compensated for your time.
The role of Technician within our Technical Operations Team is to manufacture and perform basic analysis on our product and binding chemicals at Laboratory & Pilot Scale Experiments for applications projects, from Proof-of-Concept pellet testing and preparation, through to final product pellet optimisation testing at scale. This is a role pivotal to developing technical solutions. Throughout this, key observations are required to ensure developments are tracked and development programmes are adjusted based on the findings and science. A key requirement of the role is the ability to think creatively, using experience and recognise and report trends and observations.
Duties
To manufacture our product for Applications & R&D Projects, from Proof-of-Concept testing and preparation, through to final product optimisation testing at scale. oReporting directly to the Senior Systems Manager, to fulfil the scheduled programme outlined by performing pellet manufacture, as outlined in the Design of Experiments (DoE).
To be able to operate all Lab Scale & Pilot Scale production equipment, including Pre-treatment equipment, such as milling devices and drying/curing technologies. A key understanding of how the operational technologies work and apply at scale is essential.
To learn new and additional skills to expedite the production and testing
Ensuring key equipment, spares and chemicals are available and maintained.
To provide basic physical and chemical analysis on the pellets manufactured and ensure results are updated onto Alchemy (LIMS).
Maintain the cleanliness of the laboratories and pilot plant areas to ensure the accuracy of laboratory analytical equipment is effectively maintained through a calibration programme and maintenance programme.
To support Senior Scientist and Scientists with data reviews and observations as needed.
To provide clear communication of observations and learnings to allow the tracking of IP during the development process.
To support the handling and organisation of Raw Materials and Binders to ensure materials are managed in a secure manner and maintained as per our Storage of Materials Procedures.
Supporting the Technology Leadership Group (TLG) alongside external/customer site trials where appropriate.
Undertake any other duties reasonably requested to support process operations.

Where relevant, as part of role, invitation to perform a lead function, such as
Engineering Support (providing engineering support by maintaining engineering and plant critical spares list; identifying mechanical issues, fix if repair is basic, co-ordinate engineering response and lead support for repair from relevant companies, implement maintenance schedule of key equipment).
Pilot Plant Operation (Being proficient in operating all aspects of the Pilot Plant such as conveyors, mixers, pellet manufacture, PLC controls).
Requirements
Experience in industrial processing, operations, manufacturing, or laboratory testing. o Exposure to a wider range of industries welcome.
Background knowledge of science, chemical manufacturing, mining or manufacturing useful.
