Summary
As a Process Engineer at Nugent, reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in optimising manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and trailer product quality.
JOB FUNCTION
The Production/Design Engineer will:
Analyse and improve current final assembly processes for trailers.
Develop and implement new ideas to increase productivity.
Work with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability of trailer components.
Support the design and production teams with continuous improvement and reducing manufacturing costs throughout the factory.
Monitor production data to track efficiency, rework rates, and process capacity.
Define and document internal standards and procedures alongside the Engineering and Operations teams.
Analyse process bottlenecks, collect and share meaningful data with production and design teams
Assist in the design of jigs & fixtures ensuring high level of efficiency in production.
Train assembly technicians and support staff on new procedures and process updates.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
3rd level qualification in an Engineering related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years in a final product assembly production environment
Minimum of 2 years in a process engineering or continuous improvement engineering role.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Proven experience in a similar role
Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Highly organised with effective project management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in IT systems and tools.
A team player who is methodical, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Experience in using MRP software
Experience in manufacturing/process engineering role within vehicle or trailer assembly.
Experience of automation for manufacturing.
Experience in PFMEA
Qualifications in Lean/Six Sigma.
