As well as electrifying our main routes, and upgrading key stations, we have carried out the biggest upgrade of trains in the country.

The Procurement team have an essential role to play in the success of GWR through our strategic sourcing and our approach to supplier management.

About the job?

The role of the Procurement Analyst will be to own and maintain GWR\'s procurement data to ensure completeness and accuracy of records at all times and to support the wider procurement team by making recommendations for continuous improvement.

You will report directly to a Senior Procurement Manager.

To succeed in this position, you will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills who has the ability to work both independently and within a wider multi-functional stakeholder team.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Take accountability for the accuracy of the contract repository, pipeline and savings records;
  • Take accountability for a forward-looking long-term pipeline of tenders and contract renewals;
  • Take accountability for managing the supplier onboarding and assurance process, seeking ways to minimise risk in this area and rationalize suppliers where appropriate in conjunction with the wider team;
  • Develop an effective Procurement Performance scorecard for the purposes of reporting procurement value that aligns with the needs of First Group, GWR and the DfT;
  • Take accountability for the Procurement Communication plan both internally and externally that highlights where procurement is being a \'trusted partner\' and adding value to its key stakeholders;
  • Develop effective relationships with various stakeholders across GWR and First Group;
  • Support Senior Procurement Managers with complex regulated (UCR) compliant tendering on an ad-hoc basis
You\'ll need to:
  • Have excellent organisation skills in terms of time-management and workload
  • Have strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Be experienced in high-volume data management and reporting
  • Have demonstrable experience in accuracy and thoroughness; ability to look for ways to improve processes
  • Have professional procurement experience and awareness of the tender construction and award process combined with strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Be pro-active in your approach, seeking resolutions to issues as they arise
  • Have great communication skills
  • Be proficient with MS Office, in particular MS Excel and Word
As a minimum you\'ll need to have:
  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • A basic understanding of the procurement process
  • Proven experience in the development of good relationships with both internal and external senior stakeholders;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills;
About the location?

Base location is Swindon however flexibility will be considered.
