You will be focused on supporting and growing the Passive Fire Protection business globally. It has responsibility for global product development, testing/certification and support the commercialization of the products. This position requires close collaboration with various functions, including other S&T innovation teams, marketing, and commercial teams based worldwide.


You will report to the EMEA Regional Technical Director.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct laboratory-based research and development of premium PFP coatings, including cellulosic and hydrocarbon PFP. Deliver the assigned R&D deliverables for global and complex Product Development projects, including agile project set up for new growth areas for PPG. Communicate with third-party testing/certification body regarding test matrices and test methodology for PFP projects. Collaborate with the Global specification, testing and certification team to transfer test results to S&T and market teams. Operate as part of a wider versatile R&D team and cross-functional network of PPG Innovation Centers, collaborating with Product Management, Manufacturing, Product Stewardship, Operations and Procurement. Drive innovation in the area of PFP. Be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, leveraging best in class practices throughout all R&D activities and driving speed to market. This includes establishing and maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships. Ensure milestones and key deliverables are met to drive project execution. Ensure Intellectual Property progression is met from ideation through application to ensure PPG's competitive advantage. Promote and foster a broad safety culture within global laboratories. Travel as required, including international travel.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years industry experience in PFP fields: cellulosic and/or hydrocarbon PFP. Tracked record on current standard test methodology (EN/BS, UL, ASTM, etc.) Proven experience in research, product development, manufacturing, process engineering, commercialization and customer orientation. BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields.
