Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Product Engineer to join our New Product Introduction (NPI) team within De La Rue.


You will play a key role in developing and improving manufacturing processes, introducing new designs and security features, and ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality, cost, and delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in process improvements, product development, or manufacturing engineering. A collaborative approach, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement are essential, as you will work closely across various teams to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities



Lead small to medium New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from a Manufacturing and Technical perspective as the 'voice of manufacturing,' working with the Security Features Development team to seamlessly transition new products from development to production. Lead small to medium Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE) projects, comprising cross functional teams across the business. Attend new design/feature/high risk launches in manufacturing facilities to capture lessons learned live and feedback into Continuous Improvement cycles. Capture and analyse data to provide insight for the live FMEA documents in both development and design, feeding into design rules via creation of new ones, or hypothesis testing on old ones and/or updates. Support the Currency Leadership Team, executing the strategy for Currency in terms of the Central Bank and Security Features/Polymer propositions.

: Permanent.

Working hours

: Full Time - 36.5 hrs per week (9am - 5:15pm Mon, 9am - 5pm Tues - Fri).

Base location

: Westhoughton, Bolton (Preferred Location) or Viables, Basingstoke.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience



Experience within any background such as continuous improvement, materials development, process or quality engineering disciplines, preferably leading projects and involved in NPI/APQP. Demonstrates strong communications skills and able to work well with other areas of the business to understand and assist in technical problems solving. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written and verbal, informal and formal). Knowledge and experience of using Lean/Six Sigma tools, Green Belt preferred. High levels of diligence and attention to detail required. Familiarity with printing production processes and design methodology a bonus.
