B&A Quilting, an innovative, family-owned manufacturer based in Manchester, proudly produces the premium mysa Mattress range. We blend cutting-edge sleep technology with exceptional comfort and quality, bringing better sleep to homes across the UK. As we continue to expand our product range and grow in retail, we are now looking for a forward-thinking Product Technologist to help bring the next generation of sleep products to life.

Role Overview



Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Production, Marketing, Compliance and Quality teams, you'll help lead the development of new and improved products from concept through to launch. This includes researching market trends and customer needs, developing and testing prototypes, refining product specifications, and working with suppliers and manufacturing partners to bring ideas to life. You'll ensure each product is commercially viable, aligned with brand standards, and ready for scalable production--balancing creativity with practical execution at every stage.

Key Responsibilities:



Product Innovation:

Research market trends, customer feedback, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for new product development or improvements to existing ranges.

Development Process Ownership:

Manage the end-to-end development process from concept through to final production, including samples, testing, and iterations.

Supplier Liaison:

Work directly with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials, develop prototypes, and maintain clear communication throughout the development cycle.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with production, marketing, and design teams to ensure product feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and brand consistency.

Documentation & Compliance:

Maintain detailed records of specifications, test results, certifications, and costings to ensure products meet quality and safety standards.

Customer-Centric Focus:

Incorporate customer insights and feedback into product designs and updates to ensure we remain responsive to user needs.

Launch Support:

Assist in the planning and execution of product launches, providing technical knowledge, samples, and internal training where needed.

Who We're Looking For:



At least 3 years of experience in product development, preferably in manufacturing, textiles, home goods, or consumer products.

A strong understanding of

product design principles, materials, and prototyping

.

Experience working with

suppliers, manufacturers

, and managing timelines and costings.

Excellent

problem-solving

skills with a proactive, can-do attitude.

Strong

organisational

and

project management

abilities.

Confident using Microsoft Office, Excel, and relevant product development software (CAD/SketchUp/Illustrator or similar is a bonus).

Ability to balance creative thinking with a commercial and practical approach.
