Job Description

Role Purpose:



We are looking for an enthusiastic Production Engineer with an electronics/test bias to join our team. In this position they will support operations, designing and producing test equipment for in process sub-assembly testing and LRU/RMA Testing and writing the test plans to carry out this testing. Also providing technical support to the Operations department to improve operations processes and resolve technical issues. With the ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, to have an appreciation of mechanical parts.

Key Responsibilities:



Interface between Engineering and the Production teams helping to evaluate designs to reduce cost and improve ease of Assembly taking an active role in Design reviews.

Interface between Engineering and the Production teams from a test perspective helping determine in process testing required during production to improve build quality and reduce rework time.

Provide engineering support and effectively dealing with engineering production problems and shortages, ensuring production delays are kept to a minimum.

Develop assembly procedures, creating build check sheets and plan and coordinate production engineering processes to ensure high quality products are produced.

Develop test plans/procedures and plan and coordinate production engineering processes to ensure high quality products are produced and Customer requirements are met.

Provide support to Engineering with implementation of CR's.

Identify, develop and implement process improvements, implementing cost reduction initiatives to provide year on year cost savings.

Development of tooling to aid assembly of equipment, assisting in the procurement of tooling, test equipment, jigs, and fixtures.

Perform engineering analysis to reduce test equipment and production assembly equipment downtime and outages.

Identify, develop and implement process improvements/best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability and supporting Continuous Improvement activities. Implementing cost reduction initiatives to provide year on year cost savings.

Investigate problems, analyse root causes and derive resolutions.

Develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability.

Be an active member of the Continuous Improvement Team.

Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes.

Adhere to the company's procedures, policies and goals, always upholding the good reputation of the company.

Ensure at all times that health and safety regulations and guidelines are followed whilst working in a conscientious and safe manner with due consideration of other personnel.

Ensure that all procedures are followed as specified in the Quality Manual.

Assist in maintaining the office and workshop in a clean and orderly state and ensure good project housekeeping.

Skills & Experience



Essential



At least 5 years' Relevant experience in a test/engineering environment and/or qualification such as BTEC/City & Guilds level 2

Excellent knowledge of testing electrical and electromechanical equipment

Excellent technical drawing reading skills

Excellent ability at reading complex technical drawings both wiring and PCB Schematics

Good understanding of manufacturing processes

Excellent computer skills

Experience in the use of 3D CAD Software

Good communication skills - verbal and written to a wide range of target audiences.

Desirable



Experience in staff supervision or mentoring

Experience in continuous improvement initiatives

Knowledge of Labview software

Knowledge of PLC Programming

Experience using CAD Software

Good knowledge of digital camera and video protocols

Security Clearance Requirements:



Due to the nature of our business, our staff need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement. Therefore, if successful, you will need to provide proof of identity, employment history and right to work in the UK, along with proof of UK residency for at least five years.
