To lead a manufacturing line of up to 40 employees, ensuring the day to day running of production ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to, product quality is maintained to expected targets and that production plans are met.
Job Summary
It is intended that this role will support the shift through the effective day to day management of production. To fulfil this requirement, it will be expected that all health and safety procedures will be adhered to, production plans will be achieved in line with the priorities issued by planning and that quality is maintained at the agreed standard set out by customer and internal requirements. This role plays a key part in the personal development of the production team.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Include the following:
1. This role will lead by example in all H&S related policies and procedures, driving a culture of a 'safety first' philosophy and leading engagement in the Site's Vita Towards Zero process.
2. To ensure daily production targets.
3. Minimise downtime and be proactive in developing better working methods
4. Lead the production team and encourage worker participation.
5. To assist in driving through change in the production department.
6. Cost effective utilisation of a limited labour force, ensuring at all times sufficient resources are available.
7. Maintain that consistently high-quality products are manufactured and stored.
8. Maximise plant efficiency whilst maintaining all production goals.
9. Maintain excellent communications and relationships with all relevant departments.
10. Coordinate the department in accurate stock takes.
11. To be available at month and year end stock takes.
12. Motivate, train and develop the production team.
13. Responsibility for maintaining accurate stock levels.
14. Discuss performance standards with employees who do not meet the company's requirements with regards to attendance/behaviour/actions/task/performance.
15. Encourage and promote forward thinking.
16. Be able to cover the key positions within the department.
17. Ensure safe systems of work are adhered to.
18. Carrying out investigations (conduct and incident/accident)
19. Conducting return to work meetings, probationary reviews and job chats with direct reports.

Essential:
Manufacturing supervisory experience
Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Strong IT skills
