Production Manager Manufacturing

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our team and lead operations within our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, this role is responsible for ensuring customer demand is met through safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes.

You will drive employee engagement, performance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing, ensuring excellence in Safety, Cost, Quality, Efficiency, and Productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality



Ensure production processes are manned, resourced, and run at maximum efficiency in line with the manufacturing plan Resolve production issues quickly, working with engineering, technical, or quality teams for rapid solutions Monitor quality at all stages, ensuring inspections, tests, and reporting are carried out accurately Minimise quality failures by ensuring correct material handling and control

Health & Safety



Lead by example in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring all staff follow H&S procedures Identify and act on hazards or incidents promptly

Efficiency & Waste Reduction



Drive productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives Minimise material and time waste through strong coaching, guidance, and supervision

Leadership & Development



Lead, coach, and develop production staff to build a skilled and flexible workforce Line Management of supervisors and production staff Promote employee engagement, respect, teamwork, and accountability Uphold high standards of workmanship, behaviour, and discipline across the team

Continuous Improvement & Communication



Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, leading or supporting improvement projects Ensure KPIs, reports, and data are accurately maintained and interpreted Communicate effectively across all departments to support strong collaboration

Workplace & Environment



Ensure the factory remains safe, clean, and well-organised at all times Review and optimise factory layout to improve productivity, safety, and workflow
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Essential:



Working knowledge of a manufacturing facility. Fabrication / Welding experience would be an advantage but not essential. Strong leadership experience within a manufacturing/production environment Analytical and problem-solving ability, with a proactive and determined approach Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Word, and production systems Experience recording, analysing, and interpreting KPIs

Highly Desirable:



HNC level qualification or equivalent
