The Production Manager (Public Realm Programme) will oversee the delivery of the physical production of a variety of projects across Factory International's programs, predominantly in the Social (Foyer) scaling to support some projects in the larger performance spaces, including acting as assistant production manager if required.
The Public Production Manager will ensure the effective delivery of all technical, production and logistical aspects of each project - safely, to schedule, within budget and to the highest possible technical standards.
The Production Manager (Public Realm Programme) will deliver events and activities across Factory International's wide-ranging public realm programme: a wide range of events and activities of varying scale that speak to the ideas of today, are relevant to diverse communities and engage the public in new and inventive ways.
From week to week you would be delivering a diverse programme of events, from quiz nights to poetry slams; from children's workshops to photography exhibitions; from club nights to live music; from community festivals to weekend takeovers. The role is varied and you will be mainly working across the public areas of Aviva Studios to deliver exciting and innovative work for our audiences, visitors and communities.
We are looking for someone who is at a developmental stage in an Production Management career, who can bring creativity to the development and delivery of events in the Public Realm. They will show experience in the current trends in technical production, ability to liaise with artists, community partners and external suppliers to deliver memorable and distinctive projects, on time and on budget.
This role sits within the Technical Department who are the team responsible for the physical production and delivery of all our activity, from artistic commissions, commercial events and partnership projects.
The key responsibilities for the Production Manager (Public Realm Programme) include;
Working closely with the creative team to manage and facilitate the delivery of all the physical elements of the project (to include but not limited to staging, lighting, sound, and video
Managing the technical budget, ensuring that all production elements are delivered to the agreed budget and regularly reporting on forecast spend to the Producer or Event Manager
Working together with the Technical Department Heads to schedule technical personnel as required to install operate and de-install the physical elements of the project
Arranging transport for the physical elements of the production and securing storage as required
Writing production schedules for the project and communicating the content of those schedules effectively to relevant parties within a timeframe agreed with the Producer or Event Manager
Attending all meetings, site visits, installation, de-installation, including overseeing show maintenance where appropriate
Establishing a good working relationship with the key departments within Factory International
Working with the Company's partner organisations as required
Ensuring that all production elements are delivered to the highest Health and Safety standards and within all current legislation
Writing risk assessments and method statements for the production and collating risk assessments from specialist suppliers/contractors if appropriate; ensuring projects are compliant in their delivery
Where relevant compiling and delivering (within two weeks of the close of the Project) a project pack as reference material for possible future presentations of the project. The pack would cover all technical aspects relevant to installing the artwork elsewhere, including all plans
Ensure that all paperwork pertaining to the technical and production aspects of the artwork are up to date and any changes are noted and communicated to the Company's Producer until delivery of the project manual
The person specification for the Production Manager (Public Realm Programme) are;
ESSENTIAL
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders such as artists, communities, partners
Commitment to addressing under-representation and increasing inclusion in the arts with a passion to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Experience of working in wide range of venues/sites and with a range of stakeholders - artists, clients, community groups
Experience in one or more technical discipline (eg, lighting, sound or video) or small-scale production or event management
Up to date knowledge of current trends in technical production (e.g., lighting, sound, video, rigging, set construction, wardrobe etc)
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, guidance and practical implementation
Ability to read technical plans and diagrams, and an openness to learn CAD
Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Willing to get take relevant statutory checks eg DBS (Factory International can support with processing and payment)
DESIRABLE
Experience of working with a commercial events team
IOSH qualification
IPAF 3a&3b telehandler and forks accreditation
Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
