The Factory Operations Coordinator plays a central role in aligning digital production data with real-time factory operations. This position is responsible for interpreting WIP levels, production line balancing, and other Dashboard (Power BI introduction due) insights to guide the timing and batching of jobs to the shopfloor. The role acts as the key link between scan station data, production scheduling, and workforce steering.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Data Monitoring & Interpretation
Monitor live Dashboards including:
Production line balancing
WIP levels across stations
QC rejection rates and trends
Early QC entry alerts (based on 5-day delivery rule)
Collate productivity data
Detect bottlenecks and areas of under- or over-production
2. Job Batching & Flow Control
Create and release job batches to the factory floor based on:
Real-time WIP conditions
Skills matrix availability
Delivery timelines
Pause job release when WIP is over target or QC entry timing is exceeded
3. WIP & Assembly Balance Control
Adjust incoming job flow based on production ratio deviations
Recommend manpower reallocation to supervisors when WIP is out of balance
Maintain target WIP buffers (e.g. 20% tolerance levels)
4. Workforce Guidance Support
Use cross-training/skills matrix to:
Suggest personnel movements to alleviate bottlenecks
Align resource capacity with live job data
5. Communication & Meetings
Attend and contribute to daily SIM meetings on the shopfloor
Present WIP variances, ratio imbalance alerts, and flow recommendations
Coordinate with QC, logistics, and saw/mill supervisors
Skills & Experience Requirements:
Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or production planning role
Proficient in using data dashboards (preferably Power BI or similar)
Familiarity with lean production, WIP controls, and cycle time analysis
Comfortable with basic Excel logic and visualising patterns
Strong communicator and able to work closely with both technical and hands-on teams
KPIs & Success Metrics:
% of batches issued in line with live production capacity
Reduction in early QC entries outside the 5-day window
Response time to WIP alerts and bottlenecks
Operator idle time (linked to unbalanced WIP)
Improvement in daily AOTIF performance
