Production Operative
We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated
Production Operative
(Materials Handler) to support our production operations by ensuring the accurate, timely and safe handling of raw materials, finished goods and chemical products. This role involves the delivery of materials to production lines, preparation of finished goods for dispatch and efficient waste disposal, all whilst maintaining a clean and organised work environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining production flow by coordinating material movements, adhering to health and safety protocols and operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. This position requires physical fitness and prior experience in a manufacturing setting. A Reach or PPT license would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
Checking required stock availability on the system and ascertain pick locations for products
Pick correct quantity of product as required and deliver to Work in Progress area
Patrol operations to assess new raw material requirements and liaise with Team Leaders and operators throughout the shift
Having identified/been advised of a requirement for raw material to be delivered to a machine, prepare the relevant material in the Work in Progress area, for production i.e. remove packaging, Roll Turning etc.
Deliver raw material to machine operations at the time required, working to pick lists and production schedules
Prepare finished goods for dispatch to warehouse or delivery direct to customer, by wrapping and strapping using machinery provided
Subject to development and systems procedures being in place, deliver finished goods correctly to identified locations, enter data onto computer system and print labels as required
Upon delivery of chemicals by suppliers to the Wipes forecourt, unload as and when requested by the Team Leader
Ensure the movement of chemical IBC's within Chemical Mixing/Storage and Production areas, as prioritised by the Team Leader
Remove all waste product from outside the production area, sort and place in the appropriate re-cycling skips
Process Returns To Stock of raw materials. Enter on system and print labels
Wash out production Lines as required & set up for next liquid, following correct procedures
Any other reasonable duties as requested
The working hours for this role are on a rotating early and late shift:
Week 1: Monday to Thursday 06:00 til 14:00, Fridays 06:00 - 12:30
Week 2: Monday to Thursday 14:00 til 22:00, Friday 12.30 - 19:00
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a production or factory setting and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
This role is suited to someone who is tidy, well-organised, and takes pride in their work. You should be able to follow verbal and written instructions, have a strong awareness of health and safety practices and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
