Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated

Production Operative

to join our steel fabrication workshop. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the manufacturing and assembly of steel components, ensuring products meet the required quality standards and deadlines. This is a hands-on role suited to individuals with a strong work ethic and an interest in metalworking and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively, including grinders, saws, drills, and welders (if trained). Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of steel components according to technical drawings and specifications. Load, unload, and move materials within the workshop. Support skilled fabricators and welders in day-to-day tasks. Perform basic quality checks to ensure finished products meet standards. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures. Report any faults or issues with machinery or materials to supervisors promptly.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment (steel or metal fabrication preferred). Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings (desirable). Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials and equipment. Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in an industrial setting. Willingness to learn and undertake training as required.

Desirable Skills (Not Essential):

Experience with MIG/TIG welding. Forklift license or experience using overhead cranes. Knowledge of CNC machinery or fabrication software.
