Overview

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic operator to join our production team and support SML's label, tag, and packaging operations. This entry-level role is ideal for someone new to the print industry who is eager to learn and develop hands-on skills across digital printing, thermal printing, and print finishing processes.

Working under the guidance of experienced operators, the Print Assistant will play a key support role in ensuring smooth day-to-day production while helping to produce high-quality materials that meet SML's global brand and quality standards.

Duties

Assisting operators with digital and thermal printing equipment Preparing materials, inks, ribbons, and substrates for print runs Loading and unloading machines and monitoring basic print quality Supporting print finishing processes such as cutting, slitting, laminating, inspecting, and packing Carrying out routine quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency Helping with basic machine cleaning, checks, and preventative maintenance Following production schedules, job instructions, and quality requirements Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment Learning and complying with health, safety, and quality procedures Working collaboratively with the wider production team to support efficient production

Experience

No prior print experience required; full training provided A basic level of education (e.g. secondary school level or equivalent) Basic numeracy and literacy skills to follow work instructions and job specifications Comfortable working in a production or manufacturing environment Basic computer skills or willingness to learn production systems
