Job Overview
Working in a team environment you will work on a range of products; you will need to read and understand lay-up drawings and use your finishing and fairing skills to prepare and finish GRP parts, ensuring they meet quality standards. This involves tasks like removing imperfections, applying gel coat, and polishing using various tools and techniques, then finally inspect finished products to ensure they meet the QA standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Be familiar with the company's Health and Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities.
Finishing GRP Parts: This includes sanding, polishing, and applying gel coat to achieve the desired finish on GRP parts
Repairing Defects - Correcting any imperfections, small or large, using gel and fiberglass.
Read and interpret technical drawings, moulding specifications, and quality requirements.
Quality Control -Inspecting finished products for defects and ensuring they meet quality standards
Using Various Tools: Operating hand tools and power tools like orbital sanders, DA sanders, polisher, and wet/dry paper.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams.
Ensure accurate documentation of work and material usage.
Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous experience and proficient in the use of handheld power tools, such as air tools, diamond cutters and grinders.
Experience working with GRP, composites, or similar materials is preferred.
To be able to understand metric tape measures confidently.
Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings (beneficial)
Adjust settings of manufacturing equipment
Setting up required tooling
Practical with high attention to detail
Ability to work to deadlines.
High work ethic & team player
Effective communication includes speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions
To wear air-fed / respiratory equipment and adhere to PPE guidance.
Good understanding of Health and Safety
Punctual & reliable
Flexible approach to overtime
Ability to highlight quality issues
