Production Operators (Malt and Barley Team)

Tivetshall Maltings (Fersfield Grain Store)

An opportunity has arisen within Simpsons Malt Limited for a Production Operator (Malt and Barley) to join the team at our Fersfield Grain Store next to Tivetshall St Margaret Maltings. The main purpose of this role is to assist with store operations of barley in and malt out.

This is a full-time permanent position, working on average 50 hours per week on a rota Monday to Friday. The Production Operator will work with a team of Barley/Malt Production Operators to cover grain handling roles on morning or afternoon shift rotations. Coverage will require extended hours during busy harvest periods.

Key Tasks:

Engage fully in relevant Health, Safety and Environmental training to assist the Company to meet its legal obligations. Ensure general hygiene and housekeeping of site is maintained to a Food Standard. Ensure that plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard. Operation of forklift around the site as required. Grain sampling including QA, intake and outturn samples. Entry of process data into computer software. Assist with the safe and efficient day to day running of the site. Assist site management in ensuring all relevant Health and Safety corrective actions are dealt with in timeframes set.

Key Attributes (essential):

Full driving license, use of company vehicle may be available or mileage expenses for working at other sites as and when required. IT literate with experience of MS Office. Be able to cope with and have strategies to deal with pressure situations. Be able to work cooperatively with others and without supervision. Have a flexible approach to working hours particularly at peak times of the year. Good communication skills to develop working relationships.

Key Attributes (desirable):

Forklift truck, loading shovel & MEWP, Operator Certificates. IOSH Working Safety. Experience of grain storage.
