About the Role:
We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Production Supervisor to lead our Hot/Cold Ends and Yard teams. Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will have a real chance to make your mark, building your role as the company grows, with opportunities to deliver significant operational projects. To ensure all operational, safety, and quality standards are consistently met, while driving team engagement and production efficiency to meet business targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
Supervise and support Team Leaders and all production staff across Hot and Cold departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Working with colleagues across the business and departments as part of an integrated multi-functional team
Development of staff through mentoring and training and being a positive role model to staff
Provide line cover during staff shortages, holidays, or breaks, stepping into operational roles when required to maintain continuity.
Manage return-to-work interviews and support the wellbeing of staff returning from absence.
Legislation
Ensure awareness of and compliance with all current legislative and industry requirements for safety and hygiene in food production and supply
Comply with all company processes, procedures and policies in respect of required legislation and industry best practice
Ensure all activities are carried out safely
Production Operation
Conduct and present traceability exercises for auditors and during monthly traceability reviews.
Support and manage factory tours for visitors, customers, or auditors; confidently answer questions regarding all site processes.
Carry out internal audits as required and investigate any non-conformances, ensuring follow-up actions are implemented effectively.
Attend regular business and departmental meetings and represent the site in the absence of the Factory Manager.
Assist the NPD (New Product Development) Manager with trial preparations, machine set-up, and trial support to aid successful product development.
Manage staff working hours and shift allocations to ensure production targets and deadlines are met efficiently.
Provide QA staff with timely and accurate information including traceability reports and audit data .
Ensure daily production plans are clearly communicated and understood by relevant staff and adjust where necessary.
Be visible in departments to monitor operations, staff engagement, hygiene, and process adherence.
Strategy, Policy, and Improvement
Ensure all Health & Safety polices are being implemented
Monitoring the attendance levels and behaviour of staff
Promote and raise awareness of the company's Quality, Health And safety and Social Accountability polices
Skills & Knowledge
Food hygiene - level 3 HACCP is essential
Production management/planning training and/or certification is desirable
Proven experience within production management
Experience in managing a small team and possess good leadership and coaching skills
Have the ability to deliver clear communication and develop good working relationships with the other departments in the company
Have the ability to change priorities quickly, as per department/company needs
Experience of supplying major UK retailers and have a good track record of having delivered a high standard of service
Experience working in FMCG is essential
Excellent knowledge of legislation in respect of food safety and hygiene
Ability to understand and effectively use Management Information Systems (IT systems and MS office packages)
