Responsible for all related activities that could affect product safety, legality, authenticity, quality, and brand integrity in accordance with site policies and procedures. Responsibilities

To ensure all packing lines are operating efficiently. That all staff is fully utilised to meet demands. Ensure packed product meets customer specification. All systems and procedures are adhered to and logged digitally or via written record as required. Proactive approach to maximise efficiency. Ensure that all related Standard Operating Procedures are being followed as required. Communicate and liaise with all departments to ensure product and packaging requirements meets production demands. Monitor the functionality of line equipment, reporting to the maintenance team where faults are found. To identify the training needs of the Production Team and organise training accordingly. Other ad hoc duties as required.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on

Production / Packing Manager

to ensure our soft fruit products are packed efficiently, safely, and in line with customer specifications. You will lead daily packing operations, drive performance and productivity, and ensure all procedures meet food safety and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee efficient operation of all packing lines, ensuring product quality and customer compliance. Manage, coach, and develop production teams to achieve operational targets. Plan and forecast resources to meet production schedules and transport deadlines. Ensure accurate job costing, reporting, and daily closure of production records. Promote and uphold food safety, health & safety, and hygiene policies. Collaborate with QA, warehouse, engineering, and supply chain teams. Monitor equipment functionality and report maintenance needs. Identify and address training needs within the production team. Support continuous improvement to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

About You

Proven experience in a similar production or packing management role, ideally within the fresh produce or food manufacturing industry. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Excellent understanding of cost control, planning, and health & safety. Confident decision-maker with a proactive and hands-on approach. IT literate (Excel, Word, and production systems).

Qualifications

A completed degree in Food Manufacturing/Food Production, Operations/Manufacturing or Business and Leadership; Evidence of extensive experience working in a comparable role, preferably within the soft fruit industry; Strong appreciation of our business needs and resourcefulness in coming up with solutions to their challenges; Ability to relate to key client personnel in a professional and credible fashion; Well-developed personal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of employees; Good interpersonal skills and well-developed leadership and management skills
