The applicant will benefit from an understanding of Orthopaedic terminology with previous experience a positive advantage in plastics and in metal work.
To fill hollow plaster moulds and to rectify and remodel to a specific measure and requirement.
To cut and trim plastic moulded parts and finish with trims.
To work with metal goods to produce medical parts
This will involve: -
Working with plaster of Paris/leather/plastics and metals
Working with hand tools /measuring devices
Working on roughing machines /band saws /pillar drills /etc
Working with ovens
Working with Vacuum formers
Materials involved.
Plaster of Paris /water
Dyes of different colours
Polythene's , Plastics and Polypropylene
Metals of different sorts
The applicant should have the following skills
Has experience in production environments.
Requires supervision and step-by-step instructions.
Understands health & safety regulations.
Can use basic tools and equipment.
Has a limited understanding of production processes or product specifications.
Can work on basic tasks once trained.
Can follow work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Observes and shadows experienced operatives.
Understands the importance of quality but relies on others for assurance.
Health and Safety
Health and safety procedures must be always followed. Care must be taken when using cutting blades and hand tools. All tools and machinery must be checked before use to ensure they are safe to use. Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
