Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Production Test Engineer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting complex PCB assemblies.
You will be investigating root causes of failures, maintaining test rigs, and helping us optimise our production yields for high-reliability aerospace-grade hardware.

Key Responsibilities
PCBA Testing & Validation
: Perform functional testing on production PCBs and sub-assemblies to ensure they meet strict performance specifications.
Component-Level Debugging
: Investigate test failures using schematics and diagnostic tools to identify faults down to the component level (e.g., faulty ICs, solder bridges, open circuits).
Firmware Management
: Manage the flashing of bootloaders and production firmware onto fresh microcontrollers during the testing process.
Test Fixture Maintenance
: Setup, maintain, and calibrate production test fixtures (e.g., "bed of nails" jigs, flashing stations) to ensure consistent test results.
Quality Reporting
: Log all test data and failure modes accurately.
Procedure Development
: Assist in writing and updating processes and test instructions for new products introduced to the line.
Skills & Experience
Proficient
:
Use of standard lab equipment including Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters, Bench Power Supplies etc.
Clear verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical issues to the design team and non-technical production staff.
A logical approach to fault-finding and the patience to troubleshoot intermittent issues common in complex electronics.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, datasheets, and PCB layout files (Gerbers) to trace signals and diagnose faults
Experienced
:
DFM Awareness
: Ability to provide feedback on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) to help the R&D team make future products easier to build and test.
IPC Standards
: Certification or familiarity with IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) or IPC-7711/7721 (Rework and Repair).
Desirable
Automation & Scripting
: Experience with Python or similar to automate test sequences or parse test logs.
Drone/Robotics Knowledge
: Understanding of UAV architecture (Flight Controllers, GPS, IMUs, BLDC Motor control) and protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN bus, MAVLink).
Soldering Skills
: High-level manual soldering skills for SMT components and fine-pitch ICs. Experience with hot air rework stations
