Professional Clerk to the Governing Body

37 hours per week term time/40 weeks per annum, permanent.

An exciting opportunity exists to be part of a service provision to Neath Port Talbot schools. You will be responsible for a specific group of governing bodies; organising, attending and administrating meetings. You will work on a wide range of duties from officiating ballots and elections of new governors to providing independent advice on the interpretation and implementation of education specific legislation directly affecting the work of the governing body.

Training and mentoring will be provided, however, this is the type of role where rapid self-learning will be required to enable you become a specialist in the area of School Governance.

Daily hours of work will vary depending upon the number and times of meetings arranged working occasionally into the evenings. This is an all-inclusive salary based on term-time working (40 weeks per year). Extensive travel around the County Borough will be required for which you will be reimbursed.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will have the ability to respond to a wide range of queries, some of a sensitive and personal nature. You will possess sound administrative, office management, record-keeping and ICT skills, and you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of several different databases.

Ideally you should possess 4 GCSEs (grade A to C) or equivalent, to include English Language and Maths.
