We are seeking a skilled and professional Romanian Interpreter to provide high-quality linguistic support for our clients. The ideal candidate will bridge communication gaps in real-time, ensuring accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Linguistic Mediation:

Provide accurate consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between English and Romanian.

Contextual Accuracy:

Convey the meaning, tone, and nuance of the original speech rather than just translating word-for-word.

Cultural Consultation:

Act as a cultural bridge, explaining idiomatic expressions or cultural nuances when necessary to avoid misunderstandings.

Professional Conduct:

Adhere to industry standards of ethics, including impartiality and the maintenance of strict "client-interpreter" privilege.

Technical Proficiency:

(For remote roles) Comfortably use VRI (Video Remote Interpreting) or OPI (Over-the-Phone Interpreting) platforms.
Required Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Experience:

Minimum of 2-3 years of professional interpreting experience in specialized sectors (Legal, Medical, Social Services, or Corporate).

Education/Certification:

A degree in Translation/Interpreting or a recognized professional qualification, such as:

DPSI

(Diploma in Public Service Interpreting)

NRPSI

Registration

Community Interpreting

Level 2 or higher

National Board Certification

(for Medical Interpreters)
Skills & Competencies

Bilingual Fluency:

Native or near-native proficiency in both Romanian and English.

Active Listening:

Exceptional ability to retain information and process complex terminology on the fly.

Specialized Vocabulary:

Familiarity with terminology in specific fields (e.g., judicial procedures, medical conditions, or insurance protocols).

Resilience:

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations.
Preferred Attributes

Membership in a professional body (e.g., ITI, CIOL). Experience with CAT tools or translation software (if the role includes written translation). Flexibility to travel for on-site assignments or work varied shifts for remote interpreting.
