The Department of Statistics and Jesus College intend to appoint to the Professorship of Statistics as soon as possible.
The Professorship of Statistics is at the heart of the University of Oxford's continuing tradition of excellence in the subject. The Professor will be expected to provide outstanding research leadership in statistical methods development, bringing with them a vision for the discipline within the University of Oxford and internationally. They will help shape and develop the department's research and overall strategy, and will lead, and help to grow, a group of researchers within the department conducting research in the broad area of Statistical Methodology. The Professor will also be expected to teach and supervise at undergraduate and graduate level, not exclusively in their area of research expertise.
You should be a world-leading academic in Statistics (in particular the development of novel methodological approaches) with a demonstrable track record of attracting substantial research funding. We would especially like to hear from candidates whose methodological work complements, or links with, some of the existing applied research strands within the department You should have experience in an academic leadership role with the ability to lead and inspire academic colleagues. You will have a successful record of teaching and supervision and the ability to foster a high level of achievement in students.
