We're looking for a Programme Officer to join our team to support and manage the delivery of our programmes. You'll report to our Senior Programme Officer and work closely with our existing Programme Officer to coordinate and deliver high-quality programmes, manage volunteers and work directly with young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Management.
This will involve overall project management as we recruit and onboard young people and coordinating all the logistical aspects of our programmes and related events. You'll also be collecting data and working with the team to respond to feedback and improve our programmes.
Volunteer Management.
Recruiting, onboarding and supporting our volunteers. Ensuring timely communication and a great volunteer experience for the assessors, mentors and facilitators who work with us.
Stakeholder Engagement.
Your role will include stakeholder engagement at all levels - from scheduling in volunteering days with corporate partners and chatting to potential programme participants at jobs fairs, to check ins with employer partners about how our young people are doing on their placements. You'll also support our Youth Engagement and outreach.
Support to Young People.
You'll provide 1-2-1 support to young people, checking in with them on how the programme's going and if they're achieving their goals, providing support and advice and helping hold them accountable.
Facilitation.
You'll design and deliver training to the young people on our programmes, as well as information sessions and training for our corporate partners and volunteers. You don't need previous experience of doing this, as we can support you to build your facilitation skills.
Like any growing charity, our work is constantly evolving and this is a great opportunity to be part of shaping our organisation for the future. We'll encourage you to share your feedback and suggestions regularly.
We're not looking for any particular professional background. However, this role involves working with young people at the start of their careers to help them navigate the world of work and so we are looking for candidates with some professional experience that they can draw on to support participants. You definitely don't need to have a degree.
Great organisational skills and proactivity.
We're looking for excellent project management skills and attention to detail. You'll need to be able to work at pace and deliver to a high standard.
Problem solving.
We're looking for someone who can think creatively, solve problems and overcome setbacks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You'll communicate with everyone from young people to corporate partners and will need to develop into a confident presenter. This role will also involve providing feedback on CVs, job applications and cover letters, so it's important you have strong attention to detail and very good written English.
Resilience and a growth mindset.
Adaptability and perseverance in the face of challenges are crucial to the success of the young people on our programme. It's important that our team models these behaviours too. We need someone who can operate in uncertainty and persevere in the face of challenges.
Empathy and relationship building.
Many of the young people we work with have experienced substantial barriers in work, their personal lives or education. We build relationships based on trust and understanding so that we can support them to achieve their goals.
We'd also love to see an
understanding of and alignment to our mission
. You don't need experience in the early careers, youth or education sector, however we expect the successful candidate to be able to clearly articulate their passion for our mission and desire to drive our work forwards.
We work with a diverse group of young people from marginalised communities. We particularly encourage applications from minority ethnic candidates and those who have lived experience relevant to our programme, particularly non-graduates and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
