Job Purpose:



The Progress Coach is responsible for coaching and tutoring 16-19-year-old students, supporting their academic progress and personal development throughout their study programmes. Through one-to-one coaching, group tutorials, and targeted academic interventions, the role promotes independent learning, work-readiness, and positive engagement with college life. The Progress Coach also works closely with teaching staff, support services, and parents to address any barriers to learning and ensure students are well-prepared for both academic progression and future opportunities.

Duties Specific to the Post:



Support students on a one to one and group basis and act as an advocate for students when required. Contribute to the enrolment and induction of students, including the supervision and tracking of initial and diagnostic assessments. Monitor attendance, punctuality, data and student progress towards attainment targets. Undertake 1:1 progress review meetings regularly and provide action plans and SMART targets to assist the learner in achieving all elements of their programme. Ensure effective communication with teaching staff, and liaise effectively with counselling, medical, financial support, additional learning support, enrichment and any of the wider team to offer a full range of support for the students. Ensure effective quality control and continuous improvement in all aspects of the work and responsibilities attached to this post, in keeping with the College's quality assurance procedures and systems. Deliver the college Tutorial materials, DDS programme and Skills passport programme. Research, plan and develop the materials for all 3 programmes. Ensure all tutees receive their full induction programme and assist with supervision and tracking of completion of initial and diagnostic assessment. Ensure all tutees receive IAG and progression advice. Support the UCAS process for your caseload of students through liaison with College Careers advisers, writing references, checking and processing applications. Carry out the first two stages of behaviour interventions including preparation of clear documentation. Accompany tutees to behaviour meetings at stages 3-5 if need be. Establishing contact and liaison with parents, guardians and carers, providing timely and accurate information. Meet with parents and carers when necessary and be present at all parents' evenings. Support and promote the College Learner Voice Strategy, ensuring that learner representatives are elected from each tutor group. Contribute to Open Evenings/Events, Parents' Evenings, student interviews, handbooks, marketing materials, study skills, work experience, where appropriate. Participate in the College appraisal scheme and make arrangements for further training and professional development.

Attend team meetings, College and external events as required. Ensure all data is handled in line with General Data Protection Regulations. The postholder can be required to carry out any other duties consistent with the grade of the post, at any site on which the College may operate.
