Job Purpose:

To support learners across Adult Education Budget (AEB), Bootcamps, and employability programmes by identifying progression opportunities into employment, education, or further training. The Progressions Officer will lead on employer engagement, destination tracking, and performance against key contractual outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Learner Progression Support:

Develop individualised progression plans aligned with learner career goals. Provide tailored Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) throughout the learner journey. Support learners to secure sustainable employment, apprenticeships, or further learning opportunities.

Employer Engagement:

Develop and maintain relationships with employers to source progression opportunities including vacancies, placements, and SWAPs. Secure and onboard 3 new employers per month across key sectors. Organise and attend job fairs, employer talks, and events (minimum 4 per month).

Performance & Compliance:

Ensure 100% of progression and destination outcomes are recorded in line with funding rules using PICS and internal systems. Track learner destinations over 6 months with at least a 90% follow-up success rate. Achieve set regional outcomes (e.g. 80-100% interview and employment progression rates from Bootcamps in LCR, Warrington, and Sheffield). Contribute to internal reporting on progression, retention, and job outcome KPIs. Ensure all documentation and learner onboarding is compliant within 4 weeks of start.

Collaboration:

Work closely with Tutors, Skills Coaches, Business Development Managers, and the Compliance Team. Support marketing and business development activity to increase reach and learner engagement. Be responsive to internal and external enquiries, supporting delivery and development teams flexibly.

Quality & Continuous Improvement:

Attend all required team meetings, CPD sessions, one-to-ones, and head office events. Maintain up-to-date labour market intelligence and share insights with curriculum teams. Meet a 97% satisfaction rate from learners and employers. Ensure 100% of CPD activities are completed and logged.

Safeguarding & Data Protection:

Adhere to all safeguarding, confidentiality, and GDPR policies. Ensure all learner information is handled securely and sensitively.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

3 new employers onboarded monthly. 4 job fairs or progression events monthly. 100% interview rate for Bootcamp learners. 80%+ job outcomes post-course (contract dependent). 90% follow-up success over 6 months. 97% learner and employer satisfaction. 100% compliance with PICS data and documentation requirements. Full attendance to all meetings and CPD.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Proven experience in employer engagement or learner progression support. Understanding of the Further Education and employability sector. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organisational and administrative abilities. Ability to work flexibly across multiple locations and meet performance targets. IT literate with experience using MIS systems such as PICS or similar.

Desirable:

Knowledge of local labour markets in the North West and Yorkshire. Experience working on AEB, Bootcamps or DWP-funded programmes. Relevant IAG qualification (e.g. Level 3 or above).
