Job Title Training and Alt Ed Officer
Service area Training Team
POSITION SUMMARY
You are responsible for delivery Alternative Education training programmes supporting young people, across all areas of training, youth engagement and wider activities. In line with the Centres needs and purpose of service delivery your role requires you to support with young people face to face through the developed training programmes (including Traineeships, Alternative Education and Essential Skills etc) and the Centres youth provision, (including, Senior and Junior drop in provisions).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Activities / Tasks
1 - You will be responsible for planning, delivering and developing programmes of learning for Alternative Education young people. Complete all associated paperwork and report/record in accordance with SLA's agreed with individual schools. Be a point of contact for Alternative Education learners, their learning, wellbeing and progression. Responsible for marking GCSE and ESW assessments. Support, record and encourage progress and report back to relevant parties. Ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported to the designated safeguarding lead at the Centre and relevant school. Build positive relationships with schools to grow the Alternative Education provision to increase services and income.
2 - Your responsibilities will be supporting Essential Skills and the health and wellbeing aspects of the programme. Supporting the development of a fun, engaging programme of activities, resources, opportunities and evolution of the contract to increase numbers, engagement and progressions. Responsible for management of WEST and the completion of learner reviews and ILP's.
3 - Carry out inductions to confirm eligibility/suitability, recruit new learners to sustain, maximise, secure and develop the contract. Carry out reviews, deliver and assess qualifications within timescales and support all learners.
4 - You will support the JGW Training and Activities Lead with the Junior Drop-In services and activities (including evenings in particular, Wednesday's) and weekends as required. You will recruit, engage and support young people, building rapport with young people, to create a fun and interactive drop-in session they would like.
5 - You will work alongside the Training, Alt Ed & Education Manager to determine a contact/delivery allocation for providing support to the Centre's Apprenticeship programme. Your responsibilities will be supporting Essential Skills, Level 2 Youth Work Qualification and the health and wellbeing aspects of the programme. Support the development of the programme, resources, opportunities and the development of the contract to increase numbers, engagement and progressions.
Job Role Specification
Essential
Must have a minimum of 2 years' recent experience of teaching Essentials Skills or Maths/English/IT/DL s.
Must hold Assessors Qualification or be willing to work towards attaining one.
Must have a Level three Youth Work to be willing to work towards attaining one.
Must have good level of Math and English (spoken and written)
Must have experience of using various learning software and e-portfolio systems such as OneFile.
Must have knowledge of Essential Skills qualifications.
Must have knowledge of how to support learners with additional learning needs.
Must have the ability to develop others.
Must be able to be creative and enthusiastic for training/learning.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be well organised.
Must have excellent IT skills with programmes such as Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
Must be experience of providing advice and guidance to young people (youth or young adults).
Must be experience of delivering to groups.
Must be a team player with ability to work on own initiative.

It would be desirable if the candidate had a Youth Work Degree
It would be desirable if the candidate held a full UK driving licence.
Finance
You will be required to be cost effective in all contracts and purchasing undertaken in the department.
You will proactively look at funding opportunities, through contracts, grants and wider funding streams, of
any value. Seeking guidance from the Finance and Administration Manager if required.
You will ensure spending within the department is cost effective and best use of resources.

You will ensure compliance is met with the ALL Policies and Procedures across the centre.
You will ensure the delivery of an effective service to young people, in line with Service Level Agreements in place at the centre and any wider training contracts.
You will display the qualities to be able to work in a third sector setting with disadvantaged groups and provide a service to all groups who engage with the centre and in the community.
You will contribute to an open, fair working environment where inappropriate behaviour is not permitted.
You will display no evidence of the likelihood to contribute in any way to workplace bullying.
You will maintain records in a confidential manner, ensuring all information handled is done so sensitively and in line with General Data Protection Regulations, with regards to all services delivered within the Centre.
You will be aware of the Safeguarding and Prevent Duty requirements of the Centre and the Duty of Care we provide to young people and users of the Centre. You will report and monitor any Safeguarding matters to the correct partners and follow the Centre procedure in supporting the young person.
You will be responsible for completing accurate, factual, incident and accident reporting paperwork as soon as is possible, following an incident / accident. Ensuring the Centre Manager and DSL is copied in on all reports or referrals.
You will ensure confidentiality it maintained at all times; this includes the personal information of staff, visitors, volunteers, young people and carers. Equally you are responsible for keeping all information about activities, business, finances, and plans for the Centre as confidential.
You will be required to support all Centre projects and activities to ensure effective delivery, safeguarding, H&S, compliance, engagement/recruitment, reporting and delivery to meet the young person/learner and funding requirements. This includes Drop-in services, Training programmes, Apprenticeships, Alternative Education, events, C-Card, activities (internal and external) and trips etc.
Administrative / Miscellaneous
You will undertake general administration, including regular report writing, evidence-based updates / recording, grant reporting, undertaking beneficiary surveys, progress tracking and any other administrative updates, requested by the Centre Manager and Trustees.
You will undertake any activities commensurate with contractual grade and skill set of the position, requested by Centre Manager and Trustees
You will complete reviews, create case studies, collate evidence, record engagement and journeys to support any grant applications, to ensure there is a robust audit trail of activates for internal and external review.
You will be accountable for monitoring and managing all requirements and targets of projects and activates.
You will support and contribute to the Centres Marketing and publicity, policies and practices.
You will be required to attend training and the undertake implementation of this training to provide an improved service to the Centre.
You will be participating in the performance review process including the requirement for Continuous Personal / Professional Development.
You will be required to attend meetings and events inside and outside of the Centre (e.g. Jobs fairs, meetings, community events, open day, community council events, local authority events etc), representing Centre to support wider service deliver.
You will be required to check all systems used by staff on your working days, including emails, to ensure you are up to date with daily tasking, requests and actions. You will be required at times to work with wider team members, contributing to tasks, sharing ideas, skills, and knowledge to achieve the goals of the Centre and the projects.
You will be required to work with partners to develop positive relationships, representing the Centre to better support the service we provide young people and the Centre as a whole.
You will be required to perform any other duties / responsibilities and undertake training as requested by the centre manager appropriate to the role, needs of the service and day to day running of the Centre. Health, Safety and Statutory Compliance You will comply with Health & Safety Policies and Procedures, across the Centre and when partaking in wider activities off site at all times, including the completion of Risk Assessments and relevant forms.
You will take reasonable care of own and others safety; to co-operate with the Centre Managers / Supervisors in complying with statutory health and safety duties; to report incidents, accidents, faults and near misses in line with Centre Policies.
You will use systems / reporting processes that have been developed to promote health and safety at the Centre.
It is everyone responsibility to ensure the Centre is clean and fit for use, you will ensure workspace is tidy after use and all equipment is cleans and ready for its next use.
The centre will operate a clean desk policy, so all personal items are removed after use and the desk space is available for all team members to use.
You will be required to assist with the day to day running, security, care and upkeep if the centre and equipment with the Centre. Wellbeing
You will actively seek to promote wellbeing across the Centre, to optimise positive working practices, behaviours and professionalism at all times.
