We are now looking for a Project and Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Carlisle.

The role

You will take ownership of customer projects from order through to installation, turning client requirements into engineered door solutions that can be manufactured, installed and signed off first time. This role sits at the centre of our project delivery process, working with customers, architects, the estimating team, manufacturing and installation teams to ensure every door meets its technical, commercial and quality requirements.

What you will do

You will review customer specifications, drawings and contract documents and highlight any technical or scope issues. You will carry out or support site surveys and produce General Arrangement and fabrication drawings for approval. Once designs are agreed, you will issue detailed manufacturing and machining drawings and work closely with production to ensure everything is buildable within the contract constraints.

You will provide technical support to installation teams, inspect completed doors against specification, and deal directly with customers to resolve design and site issues. You will also contribute to product development and continuous improvement as part of a growing engineering function.

What we are looking for

You will have an HNC, HND or similar in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. You will be confident producing and interpreting engineering drawings and have experience designing products for manufacture and installation.

AutoCAD 2D experience is essential and experience with 3D CAD such as Inventor or SolidWorks is an advantage. You will have a structured, detail focused approach and be comfortable managing your own projects, deadlines and customer relationships.

You should be able to communicate clearly with engineers, production teams and clients, and be willing to travel occasionally to site in the UK and overseas.
