KML is a UK-based integrated marine contractor with our own fleet, assets, and labour force. With a heritage and portfolio in specialist and general merchant vessel operations, marine civil contracting and Tidal / Wave Energy Converter installations, operations and maintenance, the company has ambitious plans for growth in all three of these subsectors.

KML specialises in shoreline, coastal and offshore marine services with a wealth of amphibious and heavy lifting experience ranging from marine renewable energy construction projects to project cargo, marine civil engineering, subsea and salvage operations and many more offshore and specialist marine services.

Position: Project Co-ordinator



The successful candidate will coordinate the schedule, the budget and the risk register items on assigned projects from tender through award to completion with the support of the Project Engineer/s and Project Manager.

You will be able to organise and administer all aspects efficiently and effectively to ensure projects run smoothly - this will include Project Document Register, cost models and cost tracking, and daily reporting. The candidate will need to have a basic understanding of technical information such as CAD drawings, procedures, and worksite/vessel/office operations.

You may be required to assist in the tendering process and document production, MSRA/HIRA and procedures for marine and civil construction projects, marine operations /shipping projects, and marine renewable energy projects.

A confident "self-starter", ideally with experience in marine industry such as marine operations, logistics, transport, shipping agency you will make an essential contribution to a dynamic project team. You may also be required to represent the company at client meetings and during marine operations.

Our Project Coordinator will need to excel in the fast-paced and challenging industry where an acute commercial sensitivity and a firm grounding in project risk awareness are essential. Coolness under pressure and a cordial, highly professional manner are required to enable you to assist the Project Engineers and Project Managers, respond to client's needs, and manage colleagues, suppliers, and contractors. You will be able to change direction seamlessly in a fast-moving environment.

Relationships:



You will report directly to the Project Coordinator Lead, Project Manager/Project Engineer, or Head of Projects (depending on the size of the Project).

While on a project and in the absence of the Project Engineers you will report to the Project Manager (if assigned) or directly to the Head of Projects - who has ultimate responsibility for both the quality of KML's deliverables and effective execution of project assignments.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:



Manage, update, and maintain the project's Cost Trackers. Prepare project schedules to both manage project activities and resource requirements - ensuring adequate back scheduling for timely supply. Prepare the Project files - including proper use of the Company templates and numbering system (in accordance with ISO9001 procedures). Support the company fleet and personnel in the delivery of projects and in vessel operations. Liaise and contact suppliers to ensure Plant Machinery, Tools and Materials can be sourced and delivered on time to the right work site. Ensure project records are produced and filed accordingly in a timely manner Support the Coordinator Lead with Project Procurement requirements within required timescales and budget. Have knowledge and understanding of Project Contract Requirements as well as those related to our purchasing. Keep an eye on all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements. Development, delivery and monitoring of project deliverables to a high standard and within budget guidelines. Participate in client/contractor meetings resolving client/engineering project issues. Support aspects of the fabrication, transportation and installation of marine structures. Write up & provide input into Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the marine operations. Contribute to the drafting of work tenders, bid documents and new business pitches. Carefully document the process, statistical reports and data. Provide input and assist in the company's goal of continual improvement in its systems, processes and Project delivery. You may be required to travel to the project site/s to provide field research and ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications Required:



Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite essential. MS Project and AutoCad are desirable.

Relevant industry or marine operations experience.

A high degree of confidence, common sense and initiative are required for this role. Productive, diligent, and accurate (detail orientated), the successful candidate will be comfortable managing their own time and prioritising their workload with a can-do attitude. The ability to learn, to communicate effectively with team members and to be flexible in all areas of the business is essential; you must thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-moving marine organisation.

Desirable attributes:



Experience in Logistics & project planning. Working knowledge of tide tables, tidal stream atlases and navigational charts. Some technical knowledge of a relevant field - i.e. engineering, vessel operations. Own mode of transport.

The position will include:



Full-time hours nominal 5 days in 7, nominally 9 hours per day - at times flexible to suit tidal working, weekend working. No overtime or hourly rates are payable other than in exceptional circumstances at company discretion. Weekends worked will be paid pro rata of your salary. Annual holiday entitlement of 5.6weeks / 28 days including bank holidays. Pension Scheme enrolment Development and training plan: KML is committed to continuing personal and professional development. The Salary range listed is being used as a guide, a competitive salary is offered, and we are open to negotiation for the right Candidate with the relevant experience & Skills.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
