1st Line Defence is one of the leading unexploded ordnance (UXO) risk mitigation companies in UK. We are dedicated to delivering practical solutions to deal with aerial-delivered unexploded bombs (UXBs) from WWI and WWII, as well as UXO contamination related to historical land use by the military. Our services range from early-stage desktop risk assessments through to UXO support to construction projects, site investigation and offshore works. We are a team consisting of specialist UXO field engineers, historians, analysts and support staff. With headquarters in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, we operate across the UK and undertake projects overseas.
Working Hours and Location:
Working hours are 8.00 am - 5pm with 1 hour break for lunch, office based.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives:
. Maintain an excellent knowledge of the production project schedule, ensuring pre-start checks are planned and completed comprehensively prior to site attendances
Create and maintain a valuation for each project and update with additional costs and uplifted quotes as the project progresses, ensuring visibility of profit margins, client charges and supplier costs at all times
Ensure that site induction, qualification and ID requirements have been provided to the scheduling team prior to and during site attendance, and liaise with the client when more information is required
Identify appropriate deployable project assets as per client requirements, obtain quotes from the asset team and ensure booking requests have been raised in a timely manner prior to site attendance
Liaise with field staff throughout the duration of the project, completing regular check ins throughout the day to monitor productivity progress and report back to the Project Manager if production has been impacted by an event or issue on site
Maintain clear and concise notes throughout the duration of the project to ensure that a complete log of all project events are available should an issue arise
Investigate disputes or client complaints in a timely manner and present findings to the Project Manager
Attend client meetings for note-taking purposes and Project Manager coverage as required
Identify commercial risks and issues which may impact either the customer or 1LD, escalating them to the Project Manager and ensuring all the appropriate information has been provided in order to assist them in making commercial decisions
Completion of supplier/contractor on-boarding and evaluation processes and procedures
Liaise with the Project Geophysicist team to maintain awareness of production logs through the duration of the project and escalate to the Project Manager if the job may reduce or extend due to increased or delayed production
Check supplier and client invoices for accuracy prior to approval
Proof read Final Reports ready for final QA from the Project Manager
Build and maintain an excellent working relationship with both office staff and field staff based on trust, respect and support
Be on call to manage any out of hours projects during evenings and weekends where required.
Carry out additional hours as required by the needs of the business; this includes taking occasional out- of hours phone calls or emails, and staying late when needed, particularly during peak months or critical periods.
