on their search for an accomplished

Project Director (Mechanical Bias)

to lead the delivery of this prestigious

hyperscale data centre development in North Acton

. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of a complex, high-value mission-critical project from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring exceptional quality, commercial success, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical delivery of major data centre infrastructure including advanced cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, and hot/cold aisle containment. Oversee project planning, design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation of critical cooling infrastructure. Manage project teams, ensuring targets for programme, quality, safety, and cost are consistently achieved in a mission-critical environment. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, specialist subcontractors, and main contractors. Provide technical direction, mentoring, and strategic leadership to project teams on data centre mechanical systems. Monitor financial performance, reporting, and forecasting to ensure the project remains on budget. Uphold company standards for health & safety, quality assurance, and environmental compliance including PUE optimization. Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical infrastructure to ensure seamless integration and redundancy.

Role Requirements

Extensive experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager within the MEP contracting or building services sector. Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally degree-qualified or equivalent. Proven track record delivering

data centre or mission-critical projects

with advanced cooling and HVAC systems. Experience with N+1/2N redundancy design, hot aisle/cold aisle configurations, and precision cooling systems. Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, client-focused approach. Commercially astute with a thorough understanding of cost management and project governance. Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance, mission-critical environment. Knowledge of data centre standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942) is highly desirable.
