Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE



Reporting to the Head of Operations and Compliance this role is required to contribute to the on time, on budget and on specification delivery of a range of Rail and Defence projects. Performance involves, but is not limited to:

Delivering solutions to challenging, technical programmes as a member of a multi-disciplined engineering team.

Involved with the design, development, build, testing and verification of various products/equipment, as required across the organisation.

Monitor project schedules and milestones, ensuring alignment with quality standards and safety regulations.

Co-ordinate external stakeholder activities in line with key milestones and technical requirements.

Develop, generate, maintain and deliver project related technical documentation in line with customer requirements and timeframes.

Although no direct reports the Project Engineer will mentor junior engineers / apprentices and peer review work of other engineers prior to approval.

The Project Engineer shall work closely with all functions of the organisation to resolve problems and remove roadblocks to ensure deliverables are achieved and should actively contribute to improvements in line with:

Essential

:

You will have worked in a technical organisation.

Experience of requirements documentation, documentation control, and documentation signoff.

Experience of working with the customer to ensure the correct technical solution is reached.

Experience of project delivery, from an engineering perspective.

Experience in ensuring Technical guidelines and Standards are adhered to.

Experience in dealing with technical contracts, specifications and CDRL's.

Understand the requirements for testing.

Desirable (not essential):



Have experience of video surveillance systems.

Experience of Software based systems and an understanding of software delivery

Experience of IP based systems

Experience in the delivery of Transport Sector related projects.

Understanding of testing methodology

The flexibility to apply skills and knowledge across a number of different and quite diverse products throughout the organisation.

Member of a Professional Engineering Institution (e.g. IMechE, IET).

QUALIFICATIONS



HND/Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline OR extensive, relevant and demonstrable experience.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES



Specific responsibilities include:



Duties as outlined in the above role description.

Such other duties as Petards may from time to time reasonably require.

Create a variety of technical documentation for both technical and non-technical readership.

Responsible for all Engineering delivery on a contract.

Working closely with all functions across the organisation to ensure the solutions meet the Engineering requirements of the customer and Petards.

Acting as customers' representative on site and the voice of Engineering to the customer.

Such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require
