Via East Midlands are currently seeking a Project Engineer - Highways Development to join our Highways Design - Maintenance team based out of our Head Office in Bilsthorpe.

What you'll do:



Undertake the evaluation of externally designed Section 38 & 278 Technical Engineering Schemes on behalf of clients to ensure the Highway Asset meets Regional and National Design Specification and Safety Standards. Work with developers, consultants and stakeholders to achieve Technical Approvals in accordance with Regional and National Design Specification and Safety Standards in order to secure Legal Agreements under Section 38 & 278 of the Highways Act. Coordinate with and carry out inspections as appropriate with the Adoption Engineers to inspect works for technical compliance. To Assist Local Highway Authority Development Control/Planning Officers on the acceptability of design and construction proposals and adoption issues that may arise. Consult, communicate and liaise with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members.

What we're seeking:



HNC in Civil Engineering or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering environment. Working towards Engineering Technician (or similar) status and Membership of a Professional Institution (relevant discipline) or working towards with a development plan to gain Incorporation or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience demonstrated by CDP record. Strong ICT skills including knowledge of specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities including knowledge of computer aided design and data management environments. Working knowledge of current highway and civil engineering design standards, contracts, and procedures and industry experience in a residential developer technical role / Civils design consultancy or similar Local Highway Authority role. Knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management and other legislation and good practice appropriate to highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities. Full UK driving Licence.
