This is your opportunity to join the UK\'s leading Vertical Farming company! In line with ongoing company growth, the team are looking to hire a Project Engineer to help advance the future of sustainable food production. This role will be a great fit for a proven Project Engineer who is looking to make a real impact in a Sustainability focused role.

Working closely with the Projects, Operations, and R&D teams, you will be instrumental in evolving the infrastructure of vertical farming. Taking concepts from design through to construction, you will integrate learnings from existing sites into new projects.

What you\'ll be doing:
In this role, you will:

  • Report directly to the Engineering Director, working closely with them on a daily basis. There are numerous opportunities for skill development, with the Engineering Director supporting you throughout.
  • Collaborate with the Projects, Operations, and R&D teams as required, developing specifications in consultation with them. This will involve working in various settings, from laboratories to conveyor belts, and everything in between!
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of all things vertical farming, from systems through to components, specialised equipment, and more.
  • Take ownership on individual projects, you will develop options on how to implement design requirements set by the wider team. You will develop specifications in consultation with the Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements.
  • Present different cost options for different project scenarios. You will work with the Projects team to contract and deliver projects.
  • Report progress, producing project plans and timelines. You will monitor and document project progress and other performance indicators. Tracking and documentation changes and variations post contact, you will prepare written project communication materials to be shared with the wider team.
  • Prepare reports as required, including H&S (Health & Safety) documents.
What experience you\'ll need to apply:
This role will be a great fit for you if you have:
  • A degree in a relevant subject, such as Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar. Please note, experience beyond academia is essential, preferably within a Process, Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Automation role.
  • Proven experience worked in the optimisation or improvement of engineering processes. A background in HVAC, Automation/Automotive, Agritech, Agricultural or similar sector is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability and desire to work in a team environment. You will also be able to execute tasks independently.
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office, AUTOCAD and/or Revit.
  • Confident communication skills. You will be happy to present to external project teams and speak with numerous internal and external stakeholders.

This role is a full-time (40 hours a week) and permanent position based in Sandwich, Kent. The role has core hours Monday to Friday. There may be the occasional requirement to visit other company sites; where this is required, travel and accommodation will be provided.
