Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity within the Transport and Countryside Service at West Berkshire Council? We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team, reporting to the Senior Engineer (Streetworks), to contribute to the delivery of high-quality engineering projects and services.
About the
Role
As a Project Engineer (Streetworks), you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of streetworks projects, ensuring that engineering standards are met and maintained. Your key responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the management and coordination of streetworks projects, from initial design through to completion
Conducting site visits and inspections to assess project progress and compliance with specifications
Collaborating with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external organisations to ensure effective project delivery
Providing technical advice and guidance on engineering issues related to streetworks
Supporting the Senior Engineer in the overall management of the streetworks function
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
Proven experience in project engineering, with a focus on streetworks or highways engineering
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders
Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years' service.
