Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd are seeking a Civils biased Project Manager with experience in Access and Enabling Works, for a large-scale Overhead Lines Project in the Scottish Highlands.


You will have substantial experience of working within multi-million-pound projects to deliver safely, on-time and within budget.


This role is site based in Alness, Inverness, supporting our client SSE.

Are you an established Overhead Lines (OHL) project manager seeking a new challenge? Join us at the forefront of delivering critical electrical infrastructure. As an existing Civils Project Manager, you will be joining our ever-growing business. You will ideally be from a civils/construction industry background, ideally with experience in tendering and delivering large scale projects


Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will oversee project management and delivery, ensuring safety, financial compliance, and timeliness. Your role will involve upholding high standards in project execution, aligning with both T&D and client objectives. You will ideally possess a strong history of leading project teams on civils projects through all phases of design, construction, commission and close out. Essential skills include programme / project management, planning and expertise in managing the design requirements and commercial budgets. Familiarity with transmission operator (TO) technical standards and policies is also preferable.

This opportunity is initially a site-based position based in Argyll & Bute, we have works issued under various OHL frameworks which mean the position is UK wide.

What You Will Do



Responsible for the successful delivery of all stages of assigned projects/project scopes to meet key program milestones, including support and preparation for the mobilisation of new projects, when necessary Accountable for the approval of the scope of works, plans, and estimates for each project element Ensuring team consistency in the preparation and presentation of project controls (PMP, QA/QC, CPP) Managing project planning, risk & change management, EVM analysis, internal budget control, and cash flow Prioritising project resources and resolving conflicting requirements to improve and optimise project delivery Ensuring project delivery teams adopt performance management practices Achieving high standards in project programming and producing monthly reports Resolving issues and challenges on individual project scopes, providing guidance and leadership, and acting as a trouble-shooter when necessary Demonstrating effective SHE leadership and promoting a positive SHE culture, managing safety through early development and life cycle designs Working within company policies to address breaches of SHE policies or management systems Applying lessons learned and innovations within the Wood T&D business Enforcing quality and professionalism standards throughout the project cycle Monitoring compliance with NEC Contract terms, scope of work, and variations log with sub-contractors Managing the Programme of Works, Quality Plan, and Project Risk Register's Promoting company values and standards, demonstrating safety, integrity, and commitment Complying with and contributing to the implementation of Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001:2000, ISO 14001)

Expected:



Engineering qualification (Degree / HND / HNC) or equivalent industry track record Recognised SHE qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) Project management qualification Strong commercial and contractual awareness Ability to lead and build project teams, and proactively resolve site issues Willingness to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods Experience with SSE, SPEN or National Grid Transmission Operators is preferable Knowledge of Local Authority permit requirements and NEC Forms of Contract Experience managing design requirements for the civils element of large-scale projects, including commercial budgets. Understanding of engineering principles, CDM, and client technical standards, policies, procedures, and safety rules Excellent verbal and written communication skills Financial and commercial understanding Full UK driving licence
