Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Onsite 3 days per week)
Salary: Circa 80,000 plus car allowance and bonus, depending on skills and experience
What you'll be doing:
Take ownership of managing all contract deliverables, ensuring that outputs are delivered on time, within scope, and fully compliant with contractual obligations while exceeding customer expectations
Safeguard and strengthen the organisation's strategic interests during contract negotiations, acting as a trusted representative to secure favourable outcomes and maintain competitive advantage
Drive clear and consistent internal communication by keeping senior leaders and key stakeholders fully informed of customer interactions, updates, and evolving requirements
Provide leadership and coordination for a cross-functional team and wider network, ensuring strategic oversight, alignment, and collaboration across the entire submarines portfolio to deliver on business objectives
Demonstrate strong strategic awareness and the ability to navigate complex environments, identifying and addressing nuanced challenges to achieve successful outcomes
Your skills and experiences:
Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline
Good understanding of Ministry of Defence (MOD) contracts and customer environments, with the ability to work effectively within their frameworks
Experience leading and supporting customer-facing teams to provide excellent service and maintain positive, collaborative relationships
Background in the defence sector, ideally with involvement in engineering or aerospace programmes
Ability to work confidently in complex settings where not all resources or teams are directly under your line management
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience building constructive relationships with a range of internal and external partners.
Experience managing large or complex projects within a matrix organisation, balancing priorities and coordinating diverse teams to meet shared goals

The team:
This role provides a unique level of exposure to the senior management committee as well as key internal and external stakeholders. We are seeking an experienced and driven manager to oversee contract deliverables across our submarines portfolio. You will play a central role in ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives while maintaining strong, effective relationships throughout the organisation and with our customers. This position is suited to someone who thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment and has a solid background in contract management within engineering or defence programmes. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
