DP hours of work:

Job Duties:

We are looking for a proactive and organised Project Manager to join our Senior Civil Service (SCS) Resourcing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage high-profile recruitment campaigns that shape the future of public service leadership across all NICS departments.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of SCS resourcing projects-from planning and scheduling to tracking milestones and pushing progress forward. You'll play a central role in ensuring that each campaign is delivered on time, to a high standard, and in line with the NICS Commissioners' principles.
The SCS Resourcing branch provides strategic and operational HR services across the NICS, offering streamlined, timely and responsive solutions to meet departmental needs. The team manages externally advertised recruitment competitions, internal trawls, temporary promotions, secondments, and exception to merit appointments. It also works closely with colleagues in People & Organisational Development to shape policies and people strategies at both departmental and NICS-wide levels.
This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives on coordination, communication, and making things happen-perfect for a motivated individual who wants to make a meaningful impact in public service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans for SCS recruitment competitions, including timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (e.g. Departmental clients, Commissioners, panel members, communications) to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Monitor progress against plans and proactively manage risks, issues, and changes.
Governance & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain status reports, dashboards, and highlight reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Civil Service recruitment principles and internal audit requirements.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for assurance reviews and audit checks.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the central point of contact for assigned competitions, providing advice and updates to senior leaders and panel chairs.
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g. assessment providers, advertising agencies) to ensure timely delivery of services.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve resourcing processes and documentation.
  • Contribute to lessons learned reviews and implement agreed improvements across future campaigns.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with colleagues across the resourcing and HR teams to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
Essential Experience &Qualifications required:
1. Hold a current Practitioner level qualification in PRINCE2 Project Management.
2. Experience using Microsoft Project.
3. Have at least two years' demonstrable experience of successfully managing projects with multiple interdependent streams using the PRINCE2 project management methodology.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Experience as a Project Managerin public sector projects.
