The role




The Senior Project Manager role at The Fidelis Partnership is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to manage key strategic projects within the organization. The successful candidate will play a vital role in driving project initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and supporting the overall success of the organization.

Key accountabilities




Collaborate with senior business leads to define strategic project or programme scope, objectives, estimated costs, timelines, and expected benefits. Lead the development and approval of Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) and business cases for strategic programmes. Conduct feasibility assessments, identify interdependencies, and develop realistic and achievable delivery plans. Own the end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional projects or programmes, ensuring outcomes are achieved to agreed timelines and budgets. Lead structured planning processes, including the definition of milestones, resource requirements, and delivery sequencing. Proactively identify and remove delivery blockers, overcoming obstacles to maintain project momentum and focus. Advocate for and leverage the right resources to support successful delivery, aligning team and stakeholder efforts with business priorities. Lead multi-departmental stakeholder engagement, including chairing and presenting at Steering Committees and project boards. Present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translating technical or delivery challenges into clear impacts and actionable decisions. Provide compelling recommendations and articulate the consequences of alternative delivery paths. Mentor junior PMs in effective conflict resolution and stakeholder alignment strategies. Ensure that project governance structures are defined, agreed, and adhered to--including membership, frequency, and reporting responsibilities of key forums. Manage agendas and outputs for governance meetings, ensuring all follow-up actions are tracked and closed. Produce high-quality reporting packs summarising project status, milestones, budget position, and strategic risks for executive audiences. Contribute actively to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance templates and delivery methodologies. Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of strategic programme risks, escalating as appropriate to governance fora. Develop forward-looking contingency plans and manage complex RAID logs across multiple projects. Provide guidance to other project managers on RAID escalations and risk frameworks. Assist in the allocation, forecasting, and ongoing management of project resources, including team members, Business Analysts, and third-party vendors. Actively monitor resource utilisation and capacity planning across programme workstreams. Lead, motivate, and guide delivery teams, setting high performance standards and holding individuals accountable. Coach and mentor junior PMs to support development of internal delivery capability. Monitor and manage strategic project/programme budgets (actuals vs forecast), reporting variances and risks to senior leadership and governance bodies. Maintain accurate documentation of planned and actual expenditures, contributing to robust financial controls. Provide guidance to junior project managers on financial management and budgetary compliance.

Skills & experience




Experience: 5-8+ years leading complex and high-value projects/programmes, ideally within regulated environments such as insurance or financial services. Communication: Advanced verbal and written communication skills; able to distil complex topics for executive and non-technical audiences. Leadership: Strong leadership presence; sets direction, drives accountability, and challenges teams and individuals to achieve ambitious goals. Stakeholder Management: Expert in building alignment across departments, leading cross-functional discussions, and resolving conflict constructively. Delivery & Governance: Demonstrated success in designing and implementing structured governance and assurance frameworks. Problem-Solving: Resourceful in finding ways around barriers and delivering outcomes in challenging circumstances. London Market Insurance Experience: Direct experience with London Market operations, systems, or transformation programmes. Certifications: Relevant project/programme management certifications (e.g. PMI PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, AgilePM). CII Qualifications: Desirable for those with a focus on insurance transformation but not essential. #
