About the Role
This is a fixed term role, ending 30 April 2029.
We are looking for an individual with outstanding organisational and communication skills who is also passionate about making a difference to the planet. You will play a pivotal role in a multi-partner and multi-disciplinary project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The project explores the cultural, social, and ecological dimensions of biophilic retrofitting (i.e. integrating 'nature' into buildings) and the role of green infrastructure and retrofitting in helping our cities adapt to climate change. It will identify the regulatory and human-centred challenges that hinder widespread adoption of biophilic design and deliver evidence-based, replicable pathways to biophilic urban adaptation and retrofitting.
The project manager will coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of over 15 academics and societal partners. Specialists in literature, history, creative writing, design, architecture, law, anthropology, psychology and ecology from Swansea University, University College London, and University of Wales Trinity St David, will work with professionals and innovators in construction, social housing, green infrastructure, and nature based solutions. They will develop a 'braided' transdisciplinary approach to their research questions and co-create new research and activities with communities and partners. In addition to the day to day management and coordination of a large team, and the usual risks and resource management, the project manager will be expected to take an active role in supporting and developing the Team-convening principles (developed by the Thrive Project https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/researcher/what-is-thrive/ ) which will be adopted and adapted by our co-leaders and collaborators.
The project manager will have excellent interpersonal skills, be adaptable and a great problem solver. They will be able to work locally and potentially with international partners to expand networks and identify new opportunities on behalf of the team, while managing partner expectations and ensuring timelines are and milestones are reached.
