The Opportunity



At Arup, our Workplace and Facilities Management team is dedicated to creating exceptional working environments across our high-end commercial office spaces throughout the UK. We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver a range of refurbishment and fit-out projects--from single office upgrades to full-floor transformations including server rooms and complex relocations.

This is a pivotal role that involves working closely with the Arup Client, Property Team, and WFM stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of projects from concept to completion. You'll be instrumental in upholding best practices, compliance standards, and sustainability goals, while ensuring projects integrate smoothly with day-to-day operations across our offices.

If you're an agile and proactive Project Manager with a strong track record in commercial refurbishments and fit-outs, this could be your next big move. You thrive in fast-paced environments, can juggle multiple projects, and have a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. You're confident managing stakeholders at all levels, and you bring a structured, methodical mindset to everything from budgeting and procurement to health and safety and carbon reduction strategies. Experience in occupied office environments or sectors like healthcare and education is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end delivery of commercial fit-out and relocation projects, including contractor management, logistics, and stakeholder coordination Develop project briefs, manage budgets and financials, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations and sustainability goals Collaborate with internal teams (WFM, Property, DTG, AV, HSEQ) to ensure seamless integration and best practice across all phases Oversee project documentation, programs, and reporting in line with RIBA and Office Design Guidance standards Manage procurement and tendering processes, including contract oversight and defect liability periods Support delivery teams with governance, risk management, and commissioning, while mentoring local team members and maintaining strong client communications

Skills & Experience Required

Proven communicator across all levels, with strong verbal, written, and listening skills Detail-oriented and pragmatic, with solid problem-solving and decision-making capabilities Experienced in managing design teams, contractors, and vendors, with deep knowledge of JCT contracts Skilled in stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and navigating regulatory environments Over 5 years' project management experience, ideally in live office, healthcare, or education settings

Qualifications

Professional qualification in Project and Programme Management (e.g. APM PMQ)
