Job Overview


Paine Manwaring is a long-established Mechanical and Electrical Contractor based in Worthing, with over 100 employees, and an excellent supply chain, providing a full range of MEP services from design through to installation and commissioning.

We are now looking for an experienced and proactive Project Manager to oversee mechanical projects, working as a principal contractor. You will take ownership of projects from setup to completion, ensuring all aspects are managed effectively, including health and safety compliance, workforce coordination, and financial control. This role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to liaise with clients and team members, and a commitment to delivering projects on time within budget.

This is a permanent full-time position, reporting directly to the Contracts Manager and Director, based in our spacious Worthing Office of 35 staff, with frequent site/project attendance.

As a Project Manager, some of your key duties will be to:



Oversee, manage, and coordinate the controlled and successful delivery of multiple projects.

Visit project sites regularly to measure progress and resources required to meet project expectations, ensuring works are coordinated, and both health and safety and quality requirements are maintained.

Manage and support the site team, including supply chain labour and specialist sub-contractors.

Build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.

Create Construction Phase Plans (CPP) and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

Maintain project financial control, compiling and presenting monthly project forecasts.

Keep project folders updated with relevant documentation including toolbox talks, site photos and inspections during and post project

Create and deliver Operation C Maintenance (OCM) Manuals for completed projects

The ideal candidate will need:



Ability to understand client requirements, technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements

Proven experience managing large scale projects, ideally in mechanical contracting or construction.

Competent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, project management tools and software, including Tradify or similar platforms.

SMSTS/SSSTS qualification or similar working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance

CSCS Card

Self-motivated and proactive, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Hold a full current UK driving license.

Salary and benefits for this position are dependent on experience but typically include:
