Job Title: Project Officer - Davidson Legacy Cottage

Davidson Legacy Cottage is a unique community-driven Charity in Angus dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Davidson family (Harley-Davidson). Our aim is to provide educational and cultural experiences, celebrating local heritage whilst creating a vibrant community space.

The Davidson Legacy Cottage, Netherton, By Brechin, Scotland

A minimum of 16 hours per week at the Charity's main site at Netherton. The remainder of the working week will be a combination of working from home, visits to other sites and venues plus attendance at fund raising events as agreed with the Trustees.

Due to the unique demands of this project the working pattern will predominantly be weekends with occasional evening work.

Initially set as a One Year Fixed Term, subject to review and extension on an annual basis but with scope to be a Permanent position for a successful candidate.

This salary is grant funded by the UK Government Community Ownership Fund.

29,500 per annum based on a standard 32 hours per week.

Consideration will be given to requests for flexible working patterns and job share opportunities.

The Project Officer will drive the development, promotion, and sustainability of Davidson Legacy Cottage. This role encompasses community engagement, visitor experience enhancement, fundraising, marketing, and strategic promotion. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and creative individual capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Project Development & Implementation: o Support the development and implementation of site development plans.o Create and implement innovative programs and events to enhance visitor experience and community engagement.o Fundraising & Funding: o Identify, research, and apply for funding opportunities (grants, donations, sponsorships).o Develop and implement fundraising initiatives.o Prepare funding application reports and submit relevant reports to funders as required.o Community Engagement & Liaison: o Build and maintain relationships with local community groups, schools, and organizations.o Organize and participate in community events and outreach programs.o Serve as the primary point of contact for community inquiries.o Visitor Experience Management: o Monitor visitor numbers, feedback and trends.o Enhance visitor experience through tours, exhibitions, and displays.o Develop and manage visitor information resources.o Marketing & Promotion: o Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy.o Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).o Create and distribute promotional materials (brochures, flyers, digital content).o Liaise with local media for public relations.o Communicate effectively with individuals and external organisations when promoting the interests of the Charity.o Update and maintain the charity website.o Sustainability & Administration: o Contribute to the long-term financial and operational sustainability of the cottage.o Support volunteer recruitment, training, and management.o Maintain accurate records, databases, and financial documentation.o Provide monthly progress reports to the board of Trustees.o Assist with general administrative tasks. Essential: o Proven experience in project management, community development, or marketing.o Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.o Strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.o Experience in fundraising, funding applications, or event management.o Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing.o Ability to work independently and collaboratively.o Passion for heritage, community engagement, and cultural preservation.o Experience monitoring and evaluating project outcomes.o Desirable: o Knowledge of the Harley Davidson MotorcycleCompanyo Knowledge of local community resources and networks.o Drivers Licence and access to vehicle.o Experience with website management.
