Role Purpose



We are seeking a proactive, organised

Project Officer

to support the delivery of meaningful change within

Children's Services Transformation

.

In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping to deliver key projects that improve services and outcomes for children, young people, and families. You'll work closely with the Director of Children's Service Transformation and Project Manager to ensure projects are well-governed, communicated, and delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities



Support the delivery of change projects by helping to manage governance, reporting, and documentation. Organise project governance processes and ensure deadlines for reporting are met to a high standard. Take ownership of tasks and issues raised by senior leaders -- using initiative to resolve problems through process mapping, data analysis, and collaboration. Maintain project tools and reporting systems, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information for senior managers. Prepare and coordinate reports, meeting packs, presentations, and documentation as needed. Take minutes and capture actions for meetings such as Task & Finish Groups and Reform Boards -- updating relevant documents and circulating outcomes. Lead on planning and coordination of conferences and events linked to the transformation programme. Build and maintain clear communication channels between transformation teams, other departments, and partners. Support the induction, training, and allocation of tasks for colleagues as required. Carry out any other reasonable project tasks or duties to support programme delivery.

What We're Looking For



Essential Skills & Experience:



Understanding of project management approaches, governance, and change delivery in complex organisations. Knowledge of challenges facing local government, with credibility when engaging stakeholders at all levels. Excellent planning and organisational skills -- able to manage multiple tasks and priorities to tight deadlines. Confident, clear communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, senior leaders, and external partners. Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible -- comfortable working independently and collaboratively. Strong written communication skills, with experience preparing reports and formal documentation.

Desirable:



A formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation) or equivalent experience.
