About the role



To works across an area (Delivery Unit) or on a major project to support the operations teams to consistently deliver to the required quality - to achieve 'defect free delivery' and 'right first time'. Also, to undertake operational audits for the Business Unit to check compliance with procedures and good practice

and identify opportunities for improvement.



To be the Delivery Unit (or project) expert practitioner to provide 'hands on' specialist support and be part of the England & Wales network of Quality Managers to drive

improvements.

What you'll be doing



To support the SBU/ Business Unit plans for delivering Quality Products and Services right first time every time


(both direct labour and through the supply chain), to support the external quality certification process and to drive the "Elimination of Waste", "Right First Time" and reduction in the "Cost of Quality" all through:



Developing and supporting the delivery of specific Project and/or SBU Quality Action Plans

Quality management planning (including contract quality plans and industry specific plans e.g. NHSS, gas, water, Building Safety Bill etc.)

Ensuring that the Projects produce Quality Management Plan(s) and associated processes that deliver right first time and handover deliverables to project specification and requirements

Challenging current systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual improvement

Ensuring the development, maintenance and application of appropriate content for the BMS to meet the needs of the business whilst aligning with the BBUK requirements

Ensuring that project teams are checking against specifications and drawings, raising on BIM360 Field, raising defects/NCR's and tracking the close out of issues - in both supportive and independent audit roles

To be 'hands on' in supporting and advising projects on the QA processes and activities to achieve the right
quality

Driving the UK Quality metrics and monitoring and reporting on Divisional/SBU business performance relating to Quality and agree (and monitor) management actions to drive performance improvements
Ensuring the business is compliant with ISO 9001 and other client/industry/Divisional/SBU quality related
requirements

Ensuring business has processes in place to meet gated lifecycle Quality BMS requirements

Interfacing with audit function to support local processes

Supporting the business unit external accreditation process (including ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001
and industry licences) to ensure it is able to operate in its chosen sector

Undertaking investigations and implement effective root cause analysis where applicable

Representing the business in Customer and external Quality interfaces

Where required development of appropriate content for the business management system

Supporting quality related improvement initiatives

Providing advice and coaching on Quality issues

Organising and the delivery of Quality related training to equip the business with the skills to drive improvements in Quality performance

Interfacing with audit function to support locally where required

Interface with the aftercare teams to gather information on common problems and feed back into operations to
ensure lessons learnt are captured and shared

Supporting contracts to ensure they are compliant with Balfour Beatty & contract specific requirements

Providing Quality advice to our supply chain

Providing Quality input to the tender development and bidding process

Independently auditing projects, processes or supply chain members to identify area of non-compliance and
opportunities for improvement

Implementing systems and processes at project level and supporting teams in their use of the processes

Supporting teams in their implementation of the Company's Perfect Landings approach

Who we're looking for

An understanding of and commitment to Quality Assurance and Quality Management


Confident in working with Senior Management and able to challenge existing ways of working to support business improvement

Able to build strong relationships with Business leadership, delivery teams and project managers.

Substantial practical experience in quality management in Divisional/SBU sectors.

The ability to coach and develop staff in key quality management skills and build a quality management

framework & KPI measurement.

Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem resolution capability.

Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.

Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.

Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner.

Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner

with the ability to influence others including senior management.

Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.

Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work.

Can work within a multi-discipline team.

Able to command respect across the business

Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.

Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.

Knowledge and experience within the sector


Competent user of modern office computer systems e.g. Microsoft Office
