Job Title: Project Support Worker - Animal-Assisted Wellbeing & Development

Location: RSPCA Cornwall Venton Centre

Responsible to: Project Lead - Animal-Assisted Wellbeing & Development

Purpose of this Role



To provide practical and administrative support for the delivery of the Animal-Assisted Wellbeing & Development programme. The role focuses on assisting with group and one-to-one sessions for children and young people, supporting smooth delivery of activities, and helping to ensure the wellbeing and safety of participants.

Key Tasks /



Support the delivery of programme sessions and activities, working alongside colleagues during group and individual work.

Provide cover during staff absence under the guidance of the Project Lead.

Prepare resources, materials, and spaces for sessions.

Encourage and support children and young people to participate fully, building confidence, skills, and empathy for animals.

Assist with supervision of volunteers and work experience placements.

Maintain accurate records and support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting requirements.

Respond to routine enquiries and provide administrative support to the programme team.

Help ensure that programme facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming.

Attend and contribute to team meetings as required.

Promote the work of RSPCA Cornwall Branch through participation in programme-related activities and events.

Person Specification



Essential



Experience of working or volunteering with children, young people, or community groups.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to encourage participation and build rapport.

Organised and reliable, able to manage basic administration and record keeping.

Positive and supportive approach to working with young people, including those who may face challenges.

Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from colleagues.

Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Commitment to animal welfare and the objectives of the RSPCA.

THIS ROLE IS SUBJECT TO AN ENHANCED DBS CHECK

Desirable



Previous experience in an education, youth work, or animal welfare setting.

Knowledge of safeguarding principles and procedures.

First Aid qualification.

IT skills, including Microsoft Office and basic database management.

Understand and comply with the Branch Code of Conduct.

Take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.

Co-operate with Branch policies and procedures.

Undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required to meet the needs of the Branch.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week
