Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support property management operations. This role requires a strong understanding of various accounting principles and practices, particularly in the context of property management.

Duties



Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting. Perform account analysis and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Prepare financial reports, including cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Assist in regulatory reporting and auditing processes as required. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management. Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and support their professional development. Collaborate with property management teams to analyze financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

Skills



Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation. Knowledge of SOX compliance, LIHTC regulations, governmental accounting practices, and securities law is a plus. Experience in public accounting or corporate finance is highly desirable. Ability to interpret financial reports and provide insightful analysis for decision-making. Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles is beneficial. Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
