This role offers the unique opportunity to travel throughout the Central West District, visiting a variety of remarkable monuments and sites. You'll be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, documenting findings, developing detailed work schedules and arranging repairs. Key Responsibilities of this role



Compliance



Working closely with the Operations Compliance team, carry out and/or facilitate compliance inspections in line with HES policy, identifying areas of non-conformity or future maintenance requirements.


Maintain an accurate record of tools, plant and equipment held on sites, ensuring maintenance regimes are implemented Ensure all hazardous substances are purchased, stored and managed as per COSHH regulations. Oversee the management, including maintenance, storing and recording, of items of Personal Protective Equipment held on site as per policy Ensure all relative Health & Safety policies are implemented and followed for both the works organised and for the role in general. Review risk assessments from third parties carrying out maintenance work and produce risk assessments for work carried out in-house.

Maintenance



Carry out cyclical building fabric inspections of the Monuments and ancillary properties to identify defects or reduction in presentation standards. Liaise with Visitor & Community colleagues in identifying maintenance works during walk-rounds and cyclical Health & Safety Workplace Inspections. Produce specifications for repairs or preventative maintenance and obtain costs from contractors where appropriate. Oversee the delivery and completion of maintenance works ensuring the Conservation Standards for Properties in Care are met and any statutory consents are in place or confirmed as not being required. Co-operate with local Lead Tradespersons where works are carried out by in-house personnel. Develop bespoke Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules for each Monument and ancillary property to assist in future planning and budgetary provision. Oversee contracted grounds maintenance work ensuring specification is met and poor workmanship is identified and remedied. Organise wildlife / ecology reports or surveys when required as part of planned conservation or maintenance works. Oversee the completion of tree works identified in Tree Hazard reports or from own inspections carried out between reports. Liaise with HES Ecologist & Environment Adviser, obtain costs and programme works.

General



Ensure maintenance inspections and works are recorded concisely and accurately on PiCAMS (Properties in Care Management System). Maintain compliance registers (trees, Headstones etc.) that are managed by the Asset Management team. Maintain competence by attending training and refresher training when required. Ensure HES procurement policies are followed for works organised Partner with other Managers to ensure effective cover in the event of absence, and as part of an on-call rota covering business continuity incidents on weekends and public holidays. Collation and reporting of information related to your area of responsibility in the form of progress reports, programme updates, delays and blockers Act as the main depot liaison for all maintenance and compliance activities, with a strong focus on supporting the Visitor and Community teams with reactive requests or remedial work Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners relating to the compliance and property operations within your Depot. Work with the Lead Craftsperson to ensure all activity is carried out in a safe and coordinated manner Use experience to proactively seek opportunities for efficiencies in process and procedure within your remit Willingness & ability to work outside in sometimes difficult weather conditions. Willingness to travel with overnights stays and work out with normal working hours on occasion.

Essential:



Knowledge and experience of health and safety management practices, particularly around CDM and COSHH regulations, and competence in the production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements Experience of contractor management and supervision Experience of planning and managing planned and reactive work for contractors and in-house staff Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Ability to use IT equipment and standard MS office suite of programmes, Word, Excel, MS Forms to a reasonable standard Willingness & ability to work outside in sometimes difficult weather conditions. Willingness to travel with overnights stays and work out with normal working hours on occasion . Full Driving licence Qualified to SVQ level 4 or SCQF level 6 in relevant discipline CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme, CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme or IOSH Managing Safely.
