Job description
The role is office-based in Wimbledon SW19 and the applicant will be required to assist our contracts managers/surveyors with all aspects of assessing property damage and getting building repairs done for our clients efficiently and to a high standard :
Arrange access and start jobs with one of our network contractors after insurer approval and interim payments have been received from the insurer ; check which subcontractor is available and plan to allocate the job accordingly- this includes communicating with the client and ensuring access is available for contractors at the start of works
Source materials and arrange samples of different types of flooring and tiles for jobs ; ensure they are within the budget for the job
Deal with client enquiries asking for job updates
Prepare purchase orders and works schedules and email to our subcontractors
Deal with contractors' questions and client concerns while jobs are in progress
Ensure works in progress photos are obtained from each site on a daily basis and saved to our system
Analyse daily photos for jobs in progress and query works with contractors to ensure works are being done correctly and without omissions
Call our leak detections engineers at the start of each job to ensure they call us with the result of their investigation each day and update the system and our records with the result
Chase leak detection engineers for reports , check same and save to the client folder
Arrange for our drying contractor to install equipment and do preliminary strip out prior to loss adjuster meetings
Chase our subcontractors and liase with clients to get snagging done and provide satisfaction notes and feedback forms at the end of each job
At the end of each job hand the completed works file to the Claims Managers and get them to raise final invoices to the insurer
Chase subcontractors for their invoices , check against our PO's and get them to our financial manager's desk so he can raise payments
Meticulously update the system by making notes from all daily activity including telephone calls and email correspondence from subcontractors, clients and loss adjusters
Experience & Skills Needed
Experience of working in an insurance repairs contractor or building firm doing repairs or reinstatements
Knowledge of how building repairs have to be sequenced and organised
Ability to multitask and work calmly and methodically under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and attention to detail.
Can-do approach to problem solving and dealing with customer demands/complaints
Methodical clear head, ability to follow a process, paying attention to the smallest detail
Ability to use own initiative, work on your own and take ownership of tasks
Excellent writing skills
Proficiency in Excel
Some knowledge of water damage, flood and fire claims and an understanding of the property insurance claims function and lifecycle will be an advantage.
Training Provided
The company will provide on-the-job training in the following areas :
The entire insurance claims process from cradle to grave and how to provide customer service to our standards
The steps and requirements of starting, progressing and managing all aspects of property repairs for our clients.
