Office expectation:

Our client has an in-office arrangement; however, they would be open to discussing this on a remote or hybrid basis depending on the candidate

Working days and hours:




Company days and hours are Monday to Friday, the client is happy for candidates to work 8.30am to 5.30pm or 9.30am to 6.00pm with 30 minutes lunch per day (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)

About the role:




The Psychiatrist Consultant will be responsible for providing expert psychiatric care to patients, supporting the safe prescribing of medical cannabis in line with best practice and CQC requirements. You will play a key role in assessing and managing patients with a range of mental health conditions, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize care.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychiatrist who is open to innovative treatments and keen to work within a pioneering and fast-growing healthcare organization.

Responsibilities and duties:



Clinical Care and Assessment



Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients referred to the clinic. Diagnose and manage a variety of mental health conditions. Develop safe, patient-centred treatment and prescribing plans. Support and advise on the use of medical cannabis for eligible patients, within regulatory frameworks. Manage follow-ups, ensuring treatment efficacy and safety.

Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Working



Work closely with prescribers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. Provide psychiatric input into wider care pathways and treatment plans. Contribute to case discussions and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Clinical Governance and Compliance



Ensure all practice is in line with CQC standards and clinical governance requirements. Maintain accurate, compliant medical records. Participate in audits and quality improvement activities. Keep up to date with psychiatric best practice and medical cannabis research.

Patient Support and Education



Provide clear, empathetic communication to patients and carers regarding treatment options, risks, and outcomes. Promote a supportive and safe environment for patients throughout their treatment journey.

Role Requirements



Full GMC Registration Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) On the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry Demonstrated interest in medical cannabis therapies

Preferred Person Specification



Strong understanding of mental health conditions relevant to medical cannabis prescribing (e.g., anxiety, PTSD, depression). Awareness of, or openness to, prescribing medical cannabis under current UK regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a growing, innovative clinical environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Competence in using digital healthcare systems and electronic medical records.

Essential Experience



Clinical experience within psychiatry, preferably in both primary and secondary care. Demonstrated ability to assess, diagnose, and manage mental health conditions. Experience in patient-centred care and shared decision-making. * Comfortable working within a regulatory framework (CQC or equivalent).
